Enum DataType

Source
pub enum DataType {
    Named(String),
    Array(Box<DataType>),
    List(Box<DataType>),
    Map(Box<DataType>),
    Record(Vec<RecordField>),
}
Expand description

A column’s type, described structurally.

Named covers every type the SQL grammar can spell directly. The other variants exist because it cannot: an anonymous record has no data-type syntax at all, and the catalog reports an anonymous list or map without its element type.

A user-defined type is a Named holding its fully-qualified name. That qualification is load-bearing on disk: it is what keeps a user type called record from colliding with the tag for an anonymous record.

Variants§

§

Named(String)

A type spelled directly in SQL, e.g. integer, numeric(39,2), app.public.my_type.

§

Array(Box<DataType>)

§

List(Box<DataType>)

§

Map(Box<DataType>)

Materialize map keys are always text, so only the value type varies.

§

Record(Vec<RecordField>)

Implementations§

Source§

impl DataType

Source

pub fn named(name: impl Into<String>) -> Self

Shorthand for a leaf type.

Source

pub fn contains_record(&self) -> bool

Whether a record appears anywhere in this type.

A schema free of records is expressible as a CREATE TABLE; one containing a record is not, and has to be built out of helper relations.

Source

pub fn is_pseudo_token(&self) -> bool

Whether this type is one of the pseudo-type tokens the catalog reports in place of a structural type it cannot spell.

These are exactly the columns that need a pg_typeof probe at capture time, and the ones no stub can be built from.

Source

pub fn contains_pseudo_token(&self) -> bool

Whether a pseudo-type token appears anywhere in this type.

Source§

impl DataType

Source

pub(crate) fn to_json(&self) -> String

Serialize for storage in a text column of the build artifact.

Source

pub(crate) fn from_json(json: &str) -> Result<DataType, DataTypeJsonError>

Parse a value written by DataType::to_json.

impl Display for DataType

Renders the type as Materialize humanizes it, which is valid data-type syntax for every variant except DataType::Record.

This is a display and hashing form. It is never parsed back: structure is recovered from TypeLock, not from this string.

👎Deprecated since 1.0.1:

renamed to resetting() due to conflicts with Vec::clear(). The clear() method will be removed in a future release.

Returns self with the quirk() set to [Quirk :: Clear].

§Example
println!("{}", value.clear());
Source§

fn resetting(&self) -> Painted<&T>

Returns self with the quirk() set to [Quirk :: Resetting].

§Example
println!("{}", value.resetting());
Source§

fn bright(&self) -> Painted<&T>

Returns self with the quirk() set to [Quirk :: Bright].

§Example
println!("{}", value.bright());
Source§

fn on_bright(&self) -> Painted<&T>

Returns self with the quirk() set to [Quirk :: OnBright].

§Example
println!("{}", value.on_bright());
Source§

fn whenever(&self, value: Condition) -> Painted<&T>

Conditionally enable styling based on whether the Condition value applies. Replaces any previous condition.

See the crate level docs for more details.

§Example

Enable styling painted only when both stdout and stderr are TTYs:

use yansi::{Paint, Condition};

painted.red().on_yellow().whenever(Condition::STDOUTERR_ARE_TTY);
